What is over voltage? Discuss the cause of over voltage.

Overvoltage:

An overvoltage is a voltage pulse or wave which is superimposed on the rated voltage of the network or When the voltage in a circuit or part of it is raised above its upper design limit, this is known as overvoltage.

Why transformer is rated in KVA instead of KW?

As seen, Cu loss of a transformer depends on current and iron loss on voltage. Hence, total
transformer loss depends on volt-ampere (VA) and not on phase angle between voltage and current
i.e. it is independent of load power factor. That is why rating of transformers is in kVA and not in kW.

What do you mean by real, reactive and apparent power?

(1) Real Power: (P)
Alternative words used for Real Power (Actual Power, True Power, Watt-full Power, Useful Power, Real Power, and Active Power)
In a DC Circuit, power supply to the DC load is simply the product of Voltage across the load and Current flowing through it i.e., P = V I. because in DC Circuits, there is no concept of phase angle between current and voltage. In other words, there is no Power factor in DC Circuits.
